Tanakada Shiki Kaisen Shokudo Uochuu – A Traditional Teishoku Diner

The Ultimate Luxurious Bowl Inside JR Tokyo Station

Uochuu (魚忠) is an affiliate of Tanakada, an upscale izakaya with its main branch in Fukuoka Prefecture. Tanakada has a branch in Nishi-Azabu, wedged between Hiroo and Roppongi in Tokyo. Tanakada is recognized for not listing the prices of its dishes on its menu. To the contrary, Uochuu mainly features Kaisen Teishoku (seafood set meal) at reasonable prices for its quality. Uochuu serves carefully selected top-quality seafood ingredients procured from the Toyosu Fish Market. All the dishes are comprised of main dish, a bowl of rice, pickles, steamed egg custard, and miso soup. Uochuu is in GRANSTA, an in-station shopping and dining labyrinth that features over 150 stores.

The signature item on the menu is the “Uochu Don” which is featured as the restaurant’s greatest specialty. It is a sumptuous assortment of eight kinds of seafood – kanpachi (great amberjack), salmon, tai (sea bream), uni (sea urchin), ikura (salmon roe), maguro akami (lean tuna), ika (squid), and maguro nakaochi (tuna rib) – atop rice. Thick slices of maguro, glistening salmon roe, and golden-colored sea urchin gives the dish an outstanding presence. Indulge in this mouth-watering umami rich sashimi that will instantly melt in your mouth. Mix wasabi with either the sweet (Kyshu style) or dark (Kanto style) soy sauce and pour it over the sashimi.

There is a breakfast menu available from 8:00 to 11:00, so check it out if you’re up for traditional Japanese breakfast.
