[Kanagawa] Yoridokoro (カフェ ヨリドコロ): “Trip to Daily Life in Kamakura”

Dried Fish Café in a Traditional Folk House

Yoridokoro is a retro-modern café located just a 2-minute walk from Inamuragasaki Station in the city of Kamakura. At Yoridokoro, patrons can observe the Enoden (Enoshima Electric Railway) train passing before their eyes while relishing a nutritious Japanese meal or a restful coffee break. This café was created with the aim of offering visitors a “trip to daily life in Kamakura.” The name “Yoridokoro,” was chosen with the hope that the café would become a place where both locals and visitors could feel at ease and forge new connections with the community.

The restaurant opens at 7am and breakfast menus are available from 600 yen. For lunch, there are a few set meals centered on carefully selected dried fish along with the highest quality eggs selected after visits to egg farms throughout the prefecture. The coffee beans are supplied by “Tsubame Coffee Roastery,” a popular coffee roaster in Kamakura.

The grilled thick and juicy dried fish is excellent. Tamago Kake Gohan (TKG), or raw egg over rice, is a hot topic of conversation because the egg whites are unusually fluffy like whipped cream. The miso soup served with the set meal, with its subtle sweetness and aroma of barley, is comforting.

A short walk from the café takes you to the majestic Shonan sea where you can view Mount Fuji. The Inamuragasaki Onsen and Inamuragasaki Park, both famous scenic spots, are also nearby.
