Unique Katsu-don in a Hidden Gem in Shibuya

Zuicho is a renowned katsu-don eatery situated in the bustling neighborhood of Shibuya. A mere 10-minute walk from JR Shibuya Station, the restaurant is located in proximity to the NHK Broadcast Center and the Tokyu Shibuya Main Store. Concealed in a building, it is imperative to keep a vigilant eye so as not to miss it. The establishment is compact, boasting only 8 counter seats.

The menu is limited to a single dish, "katsu-don," with the sole variation being the size of the rice served (small, regular, or large). Traditionally, "katsu-don" comprises katsu that is enveloped in egg, however, at Zuicho, the katsu is served atop a bed of egg. Prepared upon ordering, the katsu is delectably crisp and succulent. The ambiance of the restaurant is enhanced by the mouth-watering aroma of frying katsu and the accompanying sizzling sounds.

The katsu used in the "katsu-don" is lean pork loin that is firmly pounded prior to frying, resulting in slices that are relatively thin. The in-house sweet and savory sauce is applied generously, ensuring that it permeates the katsu and rice.

In addition to the katsu-don, customers are served a side of miso soup and pickled daikon.

Quote from Google Map Review
