Freshly Rolled Musashino Udon

Uchitateya is located within a 5-minute walking distance of the east exit of JR Ikebukuro Station. The restaurant is situated in an alley near the Junkudo Bookstore.

Purchase your ticket from a vending machine placed outside the restaurant. English menus are available as the restaurant is accustomed to tourists. The menu can be roughly divided into two types: the so-called "Musashino Udon" and "Miso Nikomi Udon" (udon noodles simmered in miso broth). Please choose your preferred size of udon from five options: regular (400g), large (500g), extra-large (600g), two regulars (800g) and 1kg.

While Kagawa Prefecture is known throughout Japan for their smooth and slippery Sanuki Udon, Kanto region has its own representative thick and chewy udon noodles called "Musashino Udon." Freshly boiled Musashino Udon noodles are solidified in running water and served cold with a hot dipping sauce.

Besides the classic Nikujiru Udon (soup with pork), there are eight other tsukemen style (dipping noodle) dishes. We recommend you order the Pirikara Tsukune (soup with spicy chicken meatball). Udon noodles are usually hard-boiled, but they can be softened to your preference. Additionally, there are seven types of Miso Nikomi Udon (miso stewed udon noodles), with a choice of red or white miso.

ここに来たら食べるべきは白味噌煮込みうどん一択!優しい味の白味噌とコシのあるうどんは絶品です。つけ汁うどんしか食べた事がない方に是非オススメしたい。 Quote from Google Map Review
