Shabu Shabu with a Cinematic Twist

Named after the legendary Japanese movie director Akira Kurosawa, the restaurant is owned by the Kurosawa family. The restaurant is built to replicate the buildings featured in his movies. It is split across two levels with a total of four different seating options.

Nagatacho Kurosawa is tucked away behind the Shinto Hie Shrine, located to the south west of the imperial palace. The Nagatacho District, where the restaurant is located, is home to the Cabinet Office and many governmental organizations.

As you go through the sliding wooden-framed shoji door, the restaurant emanates tradition. In the lobby you will find a photograph of director Kurosawa sitting in an illuminated alcove.

You are expected to pre-order your selection off a set course menu. The restaurant is famous for its shabu shabu which offers a selection of pork, beef or mixture of the two. An employee fills the hot pot with clear dashi broth and lights up the fire. A starter will be served while you wait for your vegetables and the thinly sliced Kurobuta pork from Kagoshima Prefecture. Capping off your meal, premium handcrafted cold soba noodles will be served.

The menu comes with a premium price tag, but this unique restaurant is a must-visit for fans of director Kurosawa and his art.

Reservation recommended!

しゃぶしゃぶのクオリティは最高ですし、VIPをもてなすにはオススメの店です。15人ぐらいで行きましたが、奥に広い部屋があってゆっくり話せます。 Quote from Google Map Review
