Creamy and Rich Curry Udon

Shimada is located in an alleyway within a 5-minute walk from Omotesando crossing.

Upon entering, one encounters an atmosphere reminiscent of the long-ago Showa era (1926 – 1989). It is a two-story building with table seating on the first floor and tatami seating (''zashiki'') on the second floor.

The menu features creative, handmade udon and soba noodles, as well as side dishes that vary with the seasons. Side dishes are of the type often served in izakaya. Ham cutlet, agedashi-dofu (crispy deep-fried tofu) and tamagoyaki (rolled omelet) are some of the frequently ordered dishes.

Curry soup udon is a signature menu at Shimada. You can simply order a plane curry soup udon; but it is also available with noodle toppings such as shrimp tempura, pork, or mochi. Udon is recommended but soba can be substituted. The soup features a well-balanced blend of 28 kinds of spices with chicken bones and vegetables. Dried fish and milk are also combined to create a rich and mild taste.
