Tonkatsu that Sits Lightly on the Stomach

Established in 1945, Tonkatsu Yutaka is in an alleyway about a 5-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Asakusa Station. At first glance, you would not think it is a tonkatsu restaurant. The ambiance is a hybrid of Japanese and western styles with its tiled roof, brown-colored, noren (curtain), and Western-style metal hanging sign.

Located on a quiet side-street, customers can enjoy a meal in a relaxed, Japanese-style atmosphere. Generations of customers have enjoyed outstanding dishes served with the warm hospitality of this family-style restaurant.

Signature dishes are the Hire Katsu Teishoku (fillet cutlet set meal) and Rosu Katsu Teishoku (loin cutlet set meal). The elegantly finished fillet cutlet is thick yet tender, while the loin cutlet is accented with the savory aroma and sweet fatty meat typical of cutlets.

The homemade breadcrumbs are light and crispy. The tonkatsu is made of high-quality Yamato pork from Gunma prefecture. It is deep-fried in batter made of homemade flour using high-quality cottonseed oil. The result is a nice, golden-brown crust. Start by using the seaweed salt on the table and savor the natural flavor of the meat. The cutlets are reputed to be hearty, yet easy on the stomach.

The restaurant also features other deep-fried dishes such as crab croquettes, fried scallops, fried tiger prawn, and fried oysters (from October to March). Make a set meal by ordering rice and miso soup to accompany the main dish.

少々高いが、豚の脂が上品で衣もサクサク!店内も落ち着いた雰囲気で路地裏にあるので隠れ家的なお店です! Quote from Google Map Review
