Shinano is roughly a 10-minute walking distance south of Tokyo Tower.
For over 50 years, Shinano had a presence in Atago district in Minato-ku. Redevelopment projects forced it to relocate to the current location.
Shinano is a perfect choice for those who have trouble deciding between soba or udon. At Shinano, you can get half a portion of each. The restaurant is best known for its soba/udon combination dish. The noodles are dipped in a special “kenchin” soup with additives of daikon radish, taro potatoes, tofu and carrots. For Japanese regular customers, the kenchin soup is reminiscent of the soup served on the school lunch menus of their childhood. The lightly thin but chewy noodles blend well with the kenchin soup.
Shinano’s peaceful and friendly ambiance makes customers feel right at home. The restaurant is an especially popular meeting place for groups such as co-workers, families, and friends.
