Vegepota Tsukemen Enji is a popular noodle-dipping ramen restaurant near the north exit of JR Ikebukuro Station. “Vege-pota” is an abbreviation of veggie potage. As the name suggests, the restaurant only serves tsukemen, or dipping noodles, accompanied by rich tonkotsu gyokai (traditionally made of pork bones and seafood) soup for dipping.
The signature menu, Vegepota Tsukemen, is priced at 800 yen for a regular size (220g). For an extra 50 yen, you can increase the portion of noodles by 1.5 times (330g); a double portion (440g) for an extra 100 yen; or 2.5 times (550g) for an extra 200 yen. You can also choose to add ajitama (seasoned eggs) and/or extra pork chashu to the soup. Toppings are pork chashu, menma (bamboo shoots), chopped mizuna (potherb mustard) and leeks.
You will have to choose your desired type of noodles. Choose between “haiga-men” (combination of flour and wheat germ) or “motchiri-men” (smooth yet chewy). Both are thick, custom-made noodles that blend well with the flavorful and hot dipping broth. The broth is made from tonkotsu (pork bones), torigara (chicken bones), bonito, mackerel, dried sardines, shrimp, and other ingredients mixed together with a vegetable stock paste.
Wheat germ is a rich source of vitamin B, vitamin E, minerals, dietary fiber, and protein. It is touted as being helpful for weight loss, beautiful skin, anti-aging, and reducing fatigue.
麺のコシとスープの絶妙なバランスが最高のつけ麺だと思います。卵もおいしいので、是非卵トッピングで食べてみてください。 Quote from Google Map Review
