Inohana Park: Where History Blooms Beneath Cherry Blossoms
Nestled in the heart of Chuo Ward, Chiba City, Inohana Park isn’t just an average green space—it’s a living piece of history, once home to the revered Chiba Castle. This tranquil haven has been a cherished retreat for locals for generations. But its roots run even deeper, tracing back to 1126 when Chiba Tsunetane’s father, Tsuneshige, first settled here, marking the birthplace of Chiba.
Dubbed “Inohana-yama” or “Inohana-dai,” the area surrounding the park has long been famed for its picturesque landscapes and the breathtaking spectacle of cherry blossoms. In the park itself, around 90 Somei Yoshino cherry trees burst into bloom, especially dazzling during the annual cherry blossom viewing season, coinciding with the Chiba Castle Sakura Festival. Imagine lantern-lit evenings from 17:30 to 20:00, where the castle’s illumination dances in harmony with the cherry blossoms, creating a truly magical ambiance.
