Edomae Style Kakiage-don in a Ryotei Like Atmosphere

Nakasei is located in an alley opposite of Asakusa Public Hall. It is in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, entirely different from the bustling and vibrant areas of Asakusa.

Founded in 1870, Nakasei is one of the oldest restaurants in Asakusa. It has been carrying on the tradition of Edo style tempura for six generations. The restaurant features a garden with carp swimming in the pond and an atmosphere of a traditional ryotei.

The signature dish is Raijin-age, named after a god of thunder, but it is best known for kakiage-don topped with crispy prawn and clam kakiage (mixed tempura). Deep frying in a mixture of salad oil and aromatic sesame oil creates a vivid golden-brown color and giving it a delightfully crunchy texture.

There is also a dish called Tencha, which is tendon with Japanese tea poured over it.
