Harajuku / Omotesando
Harajuku, located between Shinjuku and Shibuya on the Yamanote Line, refers to the area around Tokyo’s Harajuku Station. It is the center of Japan’s youth culture where the latest trends in youth fashion, food, and art are on full display.
Along Takeshita Dori and its side streets, you will find many unique shops and food stands appealing to middle school and high school students. Further down this street, you will soon arrive in a completely different world of high fashion, expensive jewelry, luxury foreign and domestic luxury brands, and expensive cafes and restaurants. This is Omotesando, an area rivaling Ginza for elegance and style. The tree-lined avenue hosting these luxury stores is often compared to the Champs-Elysees in Paris.
The Harajuku / Omotesando area is also inviting because of Meiji Jingu shrine, proximity to Yoyogi Park, and various museums. The area also includes the Omotesando Hills complex of fashionable shops targeting urban sophisticates in their 30s and 40s. And not to be overlooked, there is Kiddy Land for children of all ages.
