Open 24 hours a day, Kameya is an immensely popular fast food soba stall in Shinjuku. Kameya is located right in the middle of Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane). Located by the railroad tracks at Shinjuku West Exit, Omoide Yokocho is a narrow alley crammed with small izakaya-type restaurants. Kameya only has L-shaped counter seats facing the kitchen. As there is no automatic ticket machine, one must place a verbal order to the staff and pay cash in exchange. Once ordered, the food is served within a minute.
Kameya was founded in 1971 in Omoide Yokocho, and has branches in Kanda, Okachimachi, Shimbashi and Ginza. Kameya’s soba noodles are freshly ground and beaten. The signature dish is the Ganso (original) Tentama Soba. Soba is topped with freshly fried kakiage (mixed tempura), onsen tamago (soft-cooked egg) and chopped green onions. Kakiage is slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Soba is commonly ordered, but if you are an udon connoisseur, go for the Tempura Udon.
最高の天玉そば。そば、つゆ、天ぷら、味、価格どれも文句なし。少しだけわがままを言うなら、本当は生たまごの方が好き。と思ってたけど温泉たまご、これはこれであり。 Quote from Google Map Review
