Ranjatai is in the back streets of Jimbocho crossing; it is located in the outer moat of the Imperial Palace.
Opened in 2006, Ranjatai is one of the few yakitori restaurants to receive a Michelin 1-Star. Owner chef Hideyuki Wadahama honed his skills at the renowned Bird Land in Ginza. Each item on the menu testifies to Chef Wadahama’s creativity and passion for culinary perfection.
Ranjatai is known for using mainly premium chicken known as “Hinai-jidori” from Akita Prefecture. Morsels of meat are carefully skewered and cooked over a charcoal grill until they are very juicy, tender, and golden brown.
Ranjatai only serves an omakase course (chef’s choice). The meal starts with a signature appetizer plate featuring a cherry tomato, slices of cheese, French-style baguette and white liver crème brûlée. This is followed by yakitori skewers of various types. In addition to yakitori, the meal includes grilled seasonal vegetables, a green salad and a soup of rich chicken broth. The ingredients are selected by directly contacting farmers in order to get the best quality ingredients.
Ranjatai also offers a variety of side menu dishes. Some are created to combine well with sake; others are designed to go well with wine. The menu often includes grilled duck with seasonal accompaniments, such as corn and figs in summer.
Reservation recommended!
Quote from Google Map Review
