Amon is in a quiet suburb of Ikebukuro, within a 10-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Ikebukuro Station. Amon has the ambiance of high-end dining. With dim lighting and a quiet and calm atmosphere, you will feel disconnected from the hustle and bustle of Ikebukuro. The restaurant is divided into two sections: table seating and raised-floored zashiki seating.
Amon offers A5-ranked wagyu beef. Tokujo-Tan (special tongue) is Amon’s all-time signature dish. It is a rare cut that can only be taken in small quantities from a single beef tongue. (Thick cut beef tongue is uncommon.)
In order of both quantity and quality, the omakase dinner menu consists of three sizes: tokusen (extra special), aka (special), and shimo (regular). If you don’t have a particularly big appetite, you’ll most likely be more than satisfied with the shimo option. While dinner costs an average 8,000 yen, you can get a lunchtime set meal for around 2,000 yen. The weekday lunch menu consists of the yakiniku set meal, tongue stew, and roast beef don. Roast beef don, limited to 10 servings a day, is a luxurious bowl of rice topped with sumptuous wagyu beef grilled over binchotan charcoal.
