Aito Denki Mochi traces its origins to Shishido Denki Mochi, established in 1916 during the Taisho era in Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture. Motivated by a pandemic-inspired return to Fukushima, the owner apprenticed at the century-old establishment, inheriting its legacy. Utilizing premium Kogane Mochi from Niigata Prefecture and pioneering electric mochi-pounding during the Taisho era, the shop earned the name “Denki Mochi.” Affectionately known as the elusive “phantom daifuku,” it boasts a five-hour shelf life.
