Takasaki, Gunma: “King of Pasta” Host City

City of Pasta: Experience Japanese-Style Spaghetti

Gunma Prefecture, blessed with abundant water resources, is known for its flourishing agriculture. It is one of the leading wheat-producing regions in Japan. Udon noodles and yaki-manju (roasted sweet bun) made from wheat flour, have been known and loved as a favored local cuisine. In proportion to its population, Takasaki City has many Japan-style Italian restaurants, which is why the city became known as the “City of Pasta.” Every year around November, the “King of Pasta” event is held in which restaurants serving pasta compete for hearts and minds through the taste and appeal of their dishes. Why not take a trip to Takasaki to taste some delicious pasta with a Japanese twist?
