Housed in the iconic Wako main building, a city landmark that has stood for nearly a century, the newly renovated space seamlessly blends the past and present.
Discover the Wako store from the basement to the 4th floor, which continues to operate as usual, offering the same high-quality products and services that have made it a favorite for generations. But the real draw is on the upper floors. The 5th floor to the rooftop serves as a venue for visitors to immerse themselves in Seiko’s worldview and culture, showcasing the company’s commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and tradition.
Built as a symbol of recovery from the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1932, the Wako main building, now known as SEIKO HOUSE GINZA, is the second generation of the building. Constructed of sturdy natural stone, it was designed to withstand fires and earthquakes and features a clock tower on the roof. The clock tower, with its four clock faces, has long been a fixture of the Ginza skyline, chiming at the top of the hour to remind visitors and residents of the passage of time.
At the time of its construction, many people did not yet carry watches, so the clock tower played an important role in spreading the concept of time in everyday life. Today, as a company specializing in watches, Seiko takes great care to maintain the clock tower with the same precision and accuracy that goes into every watch they make. It’s a fitting symbol of the building’s long history of growing with the city of Ginza and the company’s commitment to tradition.
