Shinjuku Historical Museum: Known for Preserving Centuries of Culture and History
The Shinjuku Historical Museum is a treasure trove of history and culture, showcasing the rich legacy of this Tokyo district. The permanent collection features six themes, including “History Engraved on the Land,” which traces the accumulation of culture buried in Shinjuku from the Paleolithic era to the Edo period. You can also explore “Medieval Shinjuku,” “Life and Shinjuku in the Edo Period,” “Shinjuku in Modern Literature,” “Early Showa Shinjuku,” and “Changes in Shinjuku from the War to Post-War and Heisei Periods.”
In addition to the permanent exhibits, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions that offer a glimpse into different aspects of Shinjuku’s history and culture.
